Organic Bronchial Brew (8 oz dry herb)

FOR RELIEF FROM CONGESTED AND RESTRICTED CHESTS

This tea was concocted to relieve the discomfort of congested and restricted lungs from bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, emphysema, allergies, tightness due to smoking, shortness of breath (dyspnea), out-of-breath or heavy chest feeling, wheezing, and other symptoms of air pollution and lung discomfort.

The organic Bronchial Brew herbs are cut or powdered, mixed in specific quantities, then made into a tea and ingested daily.

Each of the herbs in the formula is reported to have cleansing and detoxifying properties in the body. The herbs are also supportive of the body's immune system, and each herb is healing in its own right, but they may have a synergistic effect on congested and inflamed lungs when taken together in the effective ratios.

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?

Althaea officinalis (cut organic root)

Common Names: Marshmallow root, althea root, sweet weed, mallards, guimauve, mortification plant, schloss tea, wymote

Common Uses: Reportedly useful in inflammation and irritation of the alimentary canal, and of the urinary and respiratory organs. Marshmallow root has been used for cough and can be found in many cough suppressants and expectorants.

Qualities & Properties: Demulcent, emmolient, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, mucilaginous.

Kelp (organic granules)

Common Names: Knotted wrak, egg wrack

Common Uses: Kelp is primarily used to treat problems with the thyroid. Can be taken internally or applied externally to relieve joint pain from arthritis and rheumatism. The kelp plant is full of iron and copper, too, which helps to increase oxygen absorption in the lungs. Kelp is also good for the arteries; it is believed that kelp can help to cleanse the deposits from the walls of arteries and restore the elasticity of the artery walls. It is also good for the heart since kelp is high in manganese. Kelp is a general detoxifier as well.

Qualities & Properties: Anti-hypothyroid, anti-rheumatic, alterative, diuretic

Rumex acetosella (organic powder)

Common Names: Sheep sorrel, common field sorrel, common sorrel, red top sorrel

Common Uses: Sheep's sorrel is a detoxifying herb, the fresh juice of the leaves having a pronounced diuretic effect. Like other members of the genus, it is mildly laxative and holds out potential as a long term treatment for chronic disease, in particular that of the gastro-intestinal tract. Sheep sorrel is also used to eliminate coughing associated with bronchitis and other chest congestion issues. The plant is also part of a North American formula called Essiac which is a popular treatment for cancer. A tea made from the leaves is used in the treatment of fevers, inflammation and scurvy. The leaf juice is useful in the treatment of urinary and kidney diseases. A leaf poultice is applied to tumors, cysts, etc., and is a folk treatment for cancer.

Qualities & Properties: Diuretic, refrigerant and diaphoretic.

Warning: Individuals with a history of kidney stones should use this herb cautiously.

Asparagus racemosus (organic root powder)

Common Names: Shatavari, Satavar

Common Uses: The root is alterative, antispasmodic, aphrodisiac, demulcent, diuretic, galactogogue and refrigerant. It is taken internally in the treatment of infertility, loss of libido, threatened miscarriage, menopausal problems, hyperacidity, stomach ulcers and bronchial infections. Externally it is used to treat stiffness in the joints. This herb is used mainly in traditional Chinese medicine for the clearing lung and kidney channels. It clears lung heat, treats dry mouth, fever, aversion to wind and cold, chest pain, and hemoptysis or blood streaked sputum. For dry cough, cough with scanty, sticky sputum, or cough with blood streaked sputum and difficult to expectorate. It generates fluids and moistens dryness. Ideal for wasting and thirsting disorder. For thirst, muscle wasting, consumptive cough with blood streaked sputum, low grade or afternoon fevers, constipation and dry stools.

Qualities & Properties: Antacid, analgesic, aphrodisiac, and galactogogue.

HOW DO I USE BRONCHIAL BREW?

You will need a stainless steel, enamel or glass pot with a lid; a glass measuring cup or spoons; canning jars, lids and rings or some other air tight storage container that can be sanitized; a tea strainer (like a bamboo strainer) or cheesecloth; and a funnel.

Most people will make a gallon at a time using 2 oz of herb, but if you don’t drink it quickly enough, the tea can spoil even when refrigerated, so we recommend making it in 1-quart to half-gallon amounts first.  Of course, you will increase its shelf life by sterilizing all utensils before beginning the process.

The water to herb ratios are as follows:

WATER HERB BLEND
1 gallon 1/2 cup
1/2 gallon 1/4 cup
1 quart 2 Tbsp
1 pint 1 Tbsp

DIRECTIONS

  1. Bring water to a boil.
  2. Add herbs and allow to simmer lightly for 10 minutes, covered.
  3. Scrape down the sides of the pot and allow the tea to steep (covered) for another 45-60 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile preheat your storage containers so they do not crack from adding hot liquid to them.
  5. Pour tea with herbs into storage containers or strain the tea first.  NOTE: The tea will become stronger if the herbs are permitted to stay in the tea until you get to the bottom of the container, then strain the last portion.  However, the tea will spoil faster if the herbs remain – that’s the trade-off, and another reason to make smaller quantities at a time.
  6. Allow containers to cool, then refrigerate (never freeze the tea).

TEA PREPARATION

To serve the tea, pour 1/4 cup of strained [reduced] tea into a mug and add hot water according to your taste (1/4 to 1/2 cup). Do NOT microwave the tea. Sip the tea slowly, on an empty stomach and allow at least 20 minutes before consuming anything else.

For preventative purposes, one or two servings daily is suggested. During bronchitis treatment (or during times of physical duress), three to four servings daily is suggested. Drink plenty of water throughout the rest of the day as the tea is highly detoxifying. Discard tea if it tastes sour or when white mold appears floating on the surface. Bronchial Brew and its herbs are light and heat sensitive, so it is important to store in a cool, dark place, but never freeze the tea.

PET ALTERNATIVE

Administer the reduced tea [do not add water before serving] via syringe or bowl throughout the day, at least three times daily, using the following table as a ratio guideline:

WEIGHT TEA PER DAY
10 lbs or less 1-2 Tbsp
11-30 lbs 1/4 cup
31-70 1/2 cup
71 lbs or more 3/4 cup

HOW LONG UNTIL I SEE RESULTS?

Results will vary by individual and may depend on dosage, but most notice some relief within one week.

CAN I USE BRONCHIAL BREW ALONG WITH MY PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS?

Yes, you can. No adverse interactions have been noted between Bronchial Brew and other prescription medications.

However, as with any medicine, it is always advisable to consult your doctor before making any changes or additions to your medical program, especially if you are already using prescription medicines.

WHAT ELSE CAN I DO TO HELP THE PROCESS?

It is most important to boost your immune system and get plenty of rest to allow the body to fight infection naturally. With that in mind, the following products are recommended to complement a Bronchial Brew therapy for adults, children or pets:

For Bronchitis, COPD, conjested lungs (unidentified)

For Asthma

  • BioVent Drops - Improve respiratory health with BioVent Drops for natural asthma relief
  • PetAlive Amazapet - natural remedy for pet asthma symptoms
  • PetAlive Respo-K - Natural Remedy for Pet Colds, Congestion, Sneezing and Respiratory Infections

For Allergies

HOW LONG WILL ONE 8 OZ. ORDER OF DRY HERB LAST?

One order of Bronchial Brew will last for 15-60 days, depending on the size and frequency of dose (longer for smaller pets and children).
