More information on these natural ingredients
- Azadirachta indica (Neem) originates from the Bay of Bengal and is a highly prized Ayurvedic herb used to protect people from insect pests. The natural insecticidal properties are due to the component Azadirachtin A which affects the feeding, developmental, and reproductive processes of the insects. In addition, the anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties of Azadirachta make it an ideal natural remedy for pesky infestations. Not surprising then that the wood is highly valued for its worm resistant properties!
- Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) is a native Mediterranean shrub that is now cultivated widely elsewhere. The strong fragrance of Rosemary makes it a natural insect repellent, and the oil is well known to smother and suffocate pests. Rosemary not only stimulates hair follicles to promote healthy hair growth, but is also a nourishing conditioner and tonic for the hair itself, leaving the strands soft and silky and easy to comb.
- Lavender is one of the most popular herbs with a wide variety of uses. Lavender has been used since Roman Times as a bath additive, and it is not surprising that it derives its name from the French word ‘lavare’ meaning ‘to wash’. Aside from its wonderful fragrance, Lavender is a well known cleansing herb with natural antiseptic and insect repelling properties. The soothing and calming effects of lavender will help to settle anxiety and distress.
- Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree Oil) contains a large number of active constituents which have well known antiseptic and insecticide properties. One of Tea Tree Oil’s most powerful properties is its ability to ward off and repel parasites, including head lice. Not only will Tea Tree Oil repel and smother the lice, but it will also cleanse the bites and help the body to resist secondary infection.
- Pelargonium Graveolens (Rose Geranium) is native to South Africa, but is now cultivated in the Mediterranean region, Africa, Asia and Europe. Pelargonium owes its powerful insect repellent qualities to its rich content of Citronella oils. In addition, Pelargonium has well known antiseptic properties and will impart a beautiful orange-rose fragrance to the product.
These essential oils not only safely repel and smother the lice, but also loosen the nits from the hair shaft, allowing them to be combed out using a metal nit comb which can be found at most drugstores.
How do I use the Naughty Nits products?
Naughty Nits Shampoo:
Directions
Wash hair with Naughty Nits Shampoo, massaging gently onto the scalp for one minute. Leave in for approximately five minutes and then rinse thoroughly. Repeat after two weeks.
CAUTION
Not recommended for babies under one year unless under medical supervision. For external use only.
Naughty Nits Hair Oil:
Directions
Massage onto the scalp and into the hair after shampooing with Naughty Nits Shampoo. If working with long hair, section and divide with the help of hair clips. This will ensure that the entire affected area is covered. Comb through hair in one-inch sections repeatedly with a metal nit comb (available at most drugstores).
Watch out for lice trying to escape the oil by coming to the surface or hairline areas for air. Leave on overnight. Cover your childs pillow with an old towel to avoid staining. Shampoo out in the morning with Naughty Nits Shampoo.
CAUTION
Not recommended for babies under one year unless under medical supervision. For external use only.
Note: Protection is recommended to prevent the oil from marking bed linens and pajamas.
Naughty Nits Spritzer:
Directions
Shake the bottle. Spray lightly onto dry hair before brushing and onto the back of the neck.
CAUTION
Avoid spraying into the eyes and face. For external use only. Not recommended for babies under one year unless under medical supervision
For best results, it is recommended to use all the products in combination. Naughty Nits Spritzer may be used alone for the child who is currently lice-free and wants to stay that way during times of frequent infestation.
How long until I see results?
Results should be noticeable immediately after using Naughty Nits Shampoo and Naughty Nits Hair Oil as directed. Regular use of Naughty Nits Spritzer will keep lice infestation at bay.
How long will a bottle last?
Naughty Nits Shampoo comes in a 50g tube, the Hair Oil in a 60ml bottle and Spritzer in a 100ml bottle. Exactly how long each product will last depends on how frequently each of the products is used and the length of the child’s hair.
What is the life cycle of the head louse?
Head lice can survive on a human host for an average of 30 days. In general they do not survive more than 48 hours off the host. A female louse lays approximately 3 to 5 eggs a day. Eggs take about 7-10 days to hatch, and another 7-10 day cycle to mature and lay their own eggs.
How are lice spread?
Head lice can spread whenever direct contact of the hair or head occurs with an infested individual. Sharing personal items such as pillows, hats, towels, brushes, hair ties and helmets also facilitates spreading of hair lice.
How do I treat lice on bedding, towels and toys?
To prevent lice re-infestation, bedding and towels should be treated by washing in warm water and detergent. Make sure to place items in the dryer for at least 30 minutes. Since lice cannot live away from a host for longer than 2 days, pillows and toys can be treated by placing them in secured plastic bags for a 48 hour time period.
Our Full Spectrum Approach™
Guaranteeing Quality, Effectiveness & Safety
With a wide range of natural remedies and treatments on the market today, we understand that it can sometimes be difficult to make sense of it all. We also know that since there is no standardization in the herbal industry, there is no guarantee as to the consistency, safety or potency of the herbal remedies you buy.
That is until now!
At Native Remedies, all of our remedies are developed using the Full Spectrum Approach (FSA) to ensure you get the quality, potency and protection you deserve. Our Full Spectrum Approach consists of a set of standards and processes that combine wild crafted herbs, cGMP manufacturing and a full spectrum extraction method.
Our 3 Point Promise
1. Formulation
The first step in formulating a new remedy is always determining a customer’s needs and to match them with natural ingredients that have proven effectiveness.
In doing so, we draw on a vast body of documented knowledge about traditional medicine, as well as more recent clinical research into herbal remedies and proven homeopathic ingredients. Together with a team of natural health experts, the final formulations are compiled and decided upon.
2. Raw Material Quality & Source
All of the raw ingredients we use in our remedies are purchased from reputable suppliers and our ingredients are organically grown whenever possible.
We also ensure that wild-crafted herbs are grown far away from sources of pollution and electricity pylons, and that their presence does not compromise the integrity and balance of their environment.
All of our raw ingredients are purchased with an accompanying Certificate of Analysis. On receipt, they go into quarantine until further in-house tests are completed and released by our responsible pharmacists, ensuring that the herbs are fresh and not contaminated by any impure substances (e.g. heavy metals or bacterial infections).
3. Manufacturing
We manufacture all our remedies in an FDA registered facility under sterile conditions to ensure that no contamination occurs.
All our remedies are manufactured in-house under the supervision of our expert team and none are brought in from elsewhere. This enables us to have full control over quality and safety.
All of our products are then manufactured according to the principles of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) ensuring the consistency, safety and effectiveness of our remedies.
Full Spectrum Method vs. 'Standardized' Extracts
You may have heard the term 'standardized' extract used in relation to herbal remedies, but do you know what this means?
Many pharmaceutical companies have begun manufacturing herbal remedies using a process of extraction whereby harsh chemicals are employed to extract the active ingredients of medicinal herbs.
You will recognize these extracts by the usage of the words 'standardized' extract on the labels. This method of manufacturing is often cited as being more scientific and able to produce a superior product with controlled and guaranteed amounts of active ingredients in each product.
Contrary to these claims, this process is not approved by the manufacturers of holistic medicines. One of the reasons is that the process of extracting so-called 'active ingredients' and isolating them from the rest of the herb is one that has resulted in an increase in side effects, as the herb in this way loses its natural ability to protect against side effects.
In addition, many manufacturers use all parts of the plants to create standardized extracts, whereas herbalists know that only certain parts of some herbs should be used.
In the case of Ginkgo Biloba, for example, it is well known that the seeds of this plant are poisonous and can cause seizures and that only the leaves should be used. Standardized extracts of Ginkgo Biloba have been associated with the risk of seizure in some trials.
The most recent example of the dangers of using this manufacturing process includes the development of liver toxicity from using Kava Kava extract, an herb which has been safely used for hundreds of years!
It must also be added that this process of extraction requires the use of harsh chemicals and solvents, traces of which are difficult to remove completely from the final product.
To us, it makes little sense for companies to go the natural route, while being unable to guarantee that their product is free of contamination with chemicals known to be harmful to health!
Unlike many so-called natural remedies manufactured according to the methods described above, at Native Remedies, we avoid standardized extracts completely and use the Full Spectrum method of extraction, which is recommended by all the authoritative Materia Medica dealing with herbal medicine.
This helps us to maintain the integrity, balance and therapeutic effect of herbs with the least risk of side effects or harm to your health!
When you buy herbal and homeopathic medicines from Sage and Wisdom, you can be confident that you’re receiving a product manufactured to the highest standards of health, production and effectiveness!
